"If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours.”

-Anonymous

Simple Gifts Project is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that was started to pass along a smile to a child who is confronted with a hospital stay due to an acute, chronic, or terminal illness. Hospitals are sometimes scary places, and we want to help ease the pain by sharing a "smile." Simple Gifts Project works with school groups, scout troops, youth groups, and individuals by creating, filling, and distributing Smile Bags to pediatric patients. It is a way that kids can give back to their community and pass along a little cheer to children in need of a smile.

Thank You to Our Amazing Donors!

Thank you to all of the generous donors who gave to our Giving Tuesday campaign this year, and to those who gave throughout the year!  Your gifts will help to bring Smile Bags and care bags to many children in local hospitals in the months to come. Those patients and their families will feel your compassion as they open up the care bags and experience the virtual hug so many of them need at that time. Thank you for helping to spread a smile to a child in need!

Kindness Spreads at Barclay Elementary this Fall!

Thank you to Barclay Elementary 2nd Graders for inviting Simple Gifts Project into your classrooms again this year. We were so excited to be back at Barclay with some fun kindness “lessons” in October and November! Together we read a book about Mary and how her kindness spread through her community. We also did a demonstration showing how “kindness” spreads like colors. We also had time with some classes to make our own stickers to give to someone in need of a smile. It was great meeting these wonderful students and we can’t wait to see them all again at the Smile Bag Filling Event in January!

Get Involved with Simple Gifts Project this Year! As students and teachers head back to school this fall, so do volunteers at Simple Gifts Project. We are always looking for new schools to visit and new groups that will help support our mission. Are you a teacher, a scout leader, or student of a club looking for ways you or your students can get service hours? We can help! Join in the fun and start spreading smiles today.

Thank You to Everyone who came out to our first ever Family Fun Night!

On Wednesday, May 15th, we hosted a FUNdraiser for all ages at the Doylestown Bookshop! It was a big success as the kids and families who came enjoyed the smile cookies and snacks, the raffle baskets, crafts, story time, and the face painting was a big hit! Thank you to the DTown Bookshop for their generosity in letting us use their incredible store space after hours. Also a big shout out to Sarah Dass who was also at the Bookshop that night signing copies of her new book, It Waits in the Forest. We are hopeful to make this an annual event! Here are some highlight photos, but be sure to visit our photo page for more!

Barclay Elementary 2nd Graders

On January 26th, the entire 2nd grade class at Barclay Elementary School filled 100 Smile Bags! They had collected spare coins in the fall and then donated the money to help purchase materials to fill those bags. The students also spread smiles in other ways by creating kindness bookmarks and making kindness posters that will be hung outside their classrooms. We had such a great time with these amazing students! Thank you to them, and their teachers, for helping us spread lots of smiles to children in need.

Doylestown Health Bag Drop-Off

On Dec. 21st, I dropped off 40 Smile Bags to Doylestown Health. I want to give a huge shout out to Garrett, who has been a true supporter of Simple Gifts Project all these years. Unfortunately, he is moving on from Doylestown Health. We will miss seeing him and exchanging stories at our drop-offs, but we wish him all the best in his new position. Thank you as always to Doylestown Health for all their support…we look forward to more drop-offs in the Spring and Fall of 2024!
